Leann Brambach
A note from Leann Brambach, founder of Home Details Inc
When I started Home Details in 1998, nanny agencies in the Seattle area were
referred to as brokers. That term seemed empty to me; lacking the true
spirit of family.
With a BS in Family and Consumer Science, I am dedicated to enhancing the
relationships among individuals, families, and communities; and the
environments in which they function. What better role to perform as a Family
and Consumer Scientist than as a recruiter. One who is working with
individual families to recognize, define, acquire, and address the need for
help in their household.
A parent welcomes a nanny for the skill set she brings to a busy household,
by providing quality care, and enabling moms and dads the time to do
important work within the community. A child welcomes a nanny as a new
friend, does not recognize the functions of the job (nor examines the skill
set outlined on the nanny's resume). Children rely only upon the trust, the
laughter, the embrace, and the empathy a nanny shares. There is an
opportunity for positive emotional growth within in a nanny-child bond, yet
there is also an opportunity for a child to feel a sense of loss, distrust,
and anger when the bond is unfortunately carelessly dismissed. Both
opportunities find a place in a child's heart for life.
By stepping away from the broker mentality into a recruitment process of
getting to know a family; to know a nanny, to exchange information and
engage in meaningful conversation, a sense of community and integrity is
created around this very special relationship which, in turn, finds a
positive life long place in a child's heart.
