Are The Nanny Doctor services psychotherapy?
No. The Nanny Doctor does not provide psychotherapy for families and nannies. The Nanny Doctor provides consultation services to families and nannies. Privacy is very important to our family. How will I know The Nanny Doctor will respect this?
The Nanny Doctor respects every family’s privacy. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Heller knows the importance and value of confidentiality. There are however, certain very specific exceptions to this, and in which case The Nanny Doctor is required by law to disclose your confidential information. What is Attachment Theory?
The Nanny Doctor provides consulting services for families and nannies from an Attachment Theory perspective. Stated simply, attachment is the emotional bond to another person. Psychologist John Bowlby was the first Attachment theorist. Bowlby believed that the earliest bonds formed by children with their caregivers have a tremendous impact that continues throughout life. I have had multiple nannies in the last year. How can The Nanny Doctor help my family?
The Nanny Doctor can help you to identify your family’s specific needs prior to hiring a nanny, identify past issues with nannies, and aid in your hiring process in an effort to reduce the number of changes in nannies. She can also help maintain your relationship with your nanny via conflict resolution and positive communication.
We have a new baby, a 10-year-old and a 14-year-old. How will The Nanny Doctor help me?
As a licensed clinical psychologist and a prior nanny herself, The Nanny Doctor is well versed in what is developmentally appropriate for all ages. She will provide education and insight to your family and nanny tailored to your children’s ages that is specific to your family’s needs. She is able to describe what types of responses to expect in various circumstances when, for example, a child changes schools, or following a divorce.
Our family’s culture is very unique. How will The Nanny Doctor be able to help us?
Dr. Heller acknowledges that every family is unique. As a result, she completes a very thorough assessment of each family’s needs. This assessment includes being culturally sensitive in all aspects, some of which are religion, history and tradition, cuisine, and how long a family has been living in this country. The Nanny Doctor is also sensitive to your nanny’s culture and how her or his culture fits into your family.
Our kids live between two households and have two sets of nannies. How can the Nanny Doctor help us?
The Nanny Doctor is available to work between two households in order to ensure consistency across settings and caregivers. She works discreetly between two households with parents and nannies in the best interest of the child.
I am very busy. Does The Nanny Doctor come to me?
The Nanny Doctor makes house calls! During the initial phone contact, The Nanny Doctor will answer any questions that you may have and set up a time to meet with you in person at a time that is convenient for you and your family. She will come to your home to further discuss your needs and the services that you require. For your convenience, The Nanny Doctor is available evenings and weekends by appointment. The Nanny Doctor also maintains an office in Beverly Hills.
I don’t live in the Los Angeles area. How can The Nanny Doctor help me?
The Nanny Doctor is available to travel. She is also available to consult as deemed appropriate over the phone and Internet via e-mail.
Do I need to hire The Nanny Doctor for her complete services or can I just hire her to help me with something specific?
The Nanny Doctor offers comprehensive services as well as “The Nanny Doctor a la carte.” In other words, she is available for your every need, big or small.
Is The Nanny Doctor a nanny agency?
No. While The Nanny Doctor works with many nanny agencies around the country, The Nanny Doctor services are not part of a nanny agency. The Nanny Doctor works with your nanny agency to help you identify your specific family’s needs in order to help you to select the best nanny for your family
